They turned out so adorable and the dads LOVED them! After the paint dried, they wrote “Happy Father’s Day” on the back and signed them. Lastly, they glued their pictures in the center.

They glued their icing onto their doughnut and then I had them place finger paint fingerprints of various colors around the doughnut to serve as sprinkles. The students cut out around the doughnut and the icing. I used a 3 inch hole punch to punch out the center of the icing pattern. I also printed icing patterns onto white construction paper. I printed simple doughnut patterns onto brown paper that had the saying “”Donut” you know I love you a “hole” bunch?”printed on them. I tried a simple one with my pre-k class first. I wanted a personalized gift that students could give to their fathers for this special day, so a number of years ago I had the idea of using a doughnut as a picture frame of sorts for student pictures. It has been modified a few times over the years but is always a favorite. I wanted to share with you the most popular student-made gift we have made for this celebration. I have also held this special celebration for dads during summer camp, usually the Friday before Father’s Day. It is always a wonderful and memorable day! We usually schedule it towards the end of the school year since we are out of school before Father’s Day. and the students get to have a special treat of doughnuts with them in the cafeteria and then show off our room and what they have been learning. Then it was time for cake! The science center provided the adorable cake and I brought the “through the years” pics of the kids. After a couple pours of the liquid nitrogen we had pink vanilla ice cream – so cool! The kids got to feel the cold clouds coming off the ice cream.

Then Miss O, all cute in her bug outfit, blogged about here, got to help make the ice cream!! She mixed all the ingredients and then the science center girl got out the heavy duty equipment and liquid nitrogen to turn it into ice cream! The kids got to see up close and touch (yes Touch!) a Madagascar hissing cockroach! All bug skittish people stayed at the back of the room – but most of the kids had no problem being close.

The invite and all of the other bug birthday party printables are available in my shop!Īs part of the party package at the science center – they decorated the room in the theme and provided the cake, as well as crafts for the kids, a visit with a creature and a liquid nitrogen ice cream demo. They have awesome party packages with fun themes – I knew that the kids would love the bug theme and I found the cutest bug clip art from The Digital Bake shop on Etsy to make up some party printables/décor. Last week we threw a joint birthday party for both kiddos at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.
